Job Summary
Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient hepatology care for patients with acute and chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma, and viral hepatitis. Participate in liver transplant evaluations, outpatient clinics, and longitudinal management of candidates and recipients. Collaborate with transplant surgery, anesthesia, oncology, and critical care to ensure coordinated care across the continuum. Contribute to quality improvement, program development, regulatory readiness, and the establishment of evidence-based clinical pathways. Support multidisciplinary conferences and case reviews to drive clinical excellence. Join a growing program with shared hospital call responsibilities and potential clinical duties at Hoag Irvine as the transplant program expands.
Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from a fully accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Gastroenterology
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Transplant Hepatology
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Transplant Hepatology
- Demonstrated expertise in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma, viral hepatitis, autoimmune liver disease, metabolic liver disease, acute liver failure, and complications of end-stage liver disease
- Experience caring for hospitalized hepatology patients, liver transplant candidates, liver transplant recipients, and patients with advanced liver disease in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Experience practicing within an established liver transplant program and participating in multidisciplinary transplant care
- Active, unobstructed California medical license, or the ability to obtain one
- Full prescriptive authority and an active DEA in California, or the ability to obtain one
- Ability to successfully complete Hoag Health's credentialing process
