Job Summary
Disassemble and assemble Caterpillar transmissions, torque converters, final drives, wheel stations, differentials, and other powertrain components for repair or complete overhaul. Determine the most cost-effective repair using Caterpillar reusability guidelines and inspect parts for reuse to develop accurate repair quotes. Maintain a clean, organized work area meeting contamination control requirements while performing heavy lifting up to 100 pounds. Provide direction, training, and mentoring to assigned service technicians. Additional opportunities include learning to rebuild Caterpillar engines, fuel systems, cylinder heads, and hydraulic attachments according to manufacturer specifications. Work the 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) with a shift differential and potential for a four-day work week.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Post-secondary education degree or certificate in diesel or automotive
- Three to Five years in heavy equipment rebuild and repair of transmissions and powertrain components
- Ability to search for and enter data into a computer
- Ability to type service reports
