Job Summary
The Transmission Planning Manager will oversee the lifecycle of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, managing interconnection applications, performing power flow studies, and conducting economic modeling. Key responsibilities include leading power flow modeling and analysis, reviewing interconnection agreements, coordinating project schedules, and ensuring communication with various stakeholders. The role requires strong project management abilities, experience in transmission planning, and familiarity with power flow modeling software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Power Systems or Computer Engineering
- Five plus (5+) years of experience in transmission planning, market analysis, or a related area within the power industry
- Three plus (3+) years of experience with PowerWorld, PSSE, PLEXOS, TARA, or other power flow and PCM software
- Strong project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with interconnection processes, particularly within the ERCOT and MISO markets
- Ability to negotiate and defend the company’s interests
Desired Qualifications
- PMP certification
- Prior experience managing interconnection processes
- Programming experience with Python
