Job Summary
Lead power systems studies by performing modeling and analysis for steady-state and stability simulations, developing scopes for long-range transmission system plans, and coordinating assumptions across subdisciplines. Resolve difficult technical and business problems while implementing NERC and FERC compliance activities as a subject matter expert. Direct lower-level engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and training materials to ensure group development. Communicate study results and department endeavors to diverse audiences through written reports, presentations, and virtual discussions. Work independently to improve Integrated System Planning procedures and techniques, representing the organization as the prime technical contact on significant contracts and projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or Physics from ABET accredited curriculum
- 5+ years with nationally recognized certification
- 7+ years without certification
- Experience with multiple power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, EMS, ASPEN, CAPE, PROMOD, PLEXOS, PowerWorld, PSCAD or other similar analysis software
- 9 + years of demonstrated experience with PE (Professional Engineer) registration
- 15+ years of demonstrated experience without PE (Professional Engineer) registration
- Experience with multiple power system transmission analysis tools, such as PSSE, TARA, EMS, ASPEN, CAPE, PROMOD, PLEXOS, PowerWorld, PSCAD or other similar analysis software
- PE (Professional Engineer) registration
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or Physics from ABET accredited curriculum, electrical engineering degree preferred
- EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering and/or PE (Professional Engineer) registration preferred
- Graduate degree in fields above preferred
- Experience with Python programming
- Proficiency in conducting transient stability studies and analysis
- Experience with EMT modeling and studies using PSCAD, ETAP or other similar tools
