Job Summary

Perform power-flow, short-circuit, stability, reliability, and facility addition studies of the Ameren transmission system; use computer modeling to assess system adequacy and identify future needs for system improvements; determine the optimum size, configuration, and timing of new transmission facilities or upgrades; perform economic analyses to evaluate transmission upgrade and expansion alternatives; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to reach consensus on upgrades and interconnections; issue engineering documents to communicate conceptual design and initiate detailed design and construction; ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards and Ameren Transmission Planning Criteria; participate in NERC and Regional standards development; represent Ameren in committees or working groups (MISO, SERC, NERC) and provide leadership to groups as needed; conduct generator interconnection studies and identify system upgrades; contribute to development of MISO Transmission Expansion Plans and related studies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required, preferably with an emphasis in power systems
  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license also preferred
  • Experience in transmission planning preferred
  • Good analytical, project management, communications and human relations skills required
  • Ability to lead and/or work effectively as part of a team
  • Must be adaptable, flexible and able to handle multiple, concurrent work assignments
