Job Summary

Transmission Mechanic responsible for installing, operating, testing, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining natural gas compressor stations and transmission facilities, including calibration and testing of gas measurement and regulation systems, performing overhauls on engines and compressors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Role requires outdoor work in all weather, travel within PG&E service territory, and potential joint apprenticeship training; must possess driving license, PPE compliance, and readiness for shift flexibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to pass federally mandated random drug and alcohol testing
  • Provisional hires, must pass the provisional training plan within timeline agreed to
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance terminology, processes, and procedures as needed to perform at the job level
  • Knowledge of test and field equipment sufficient to set-up, use, and maintain as needed to perform at the job level
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights and on weekends, as well as holidays with little or no notice
  • Ability to apply welding and maintenance theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques - for example material selection, corrosion, metallurgy, pipe work, protection - as needed to perform at the job level
