Job Summary
Coordinate the siting, environmental studies and permitting execution for multi-million dollar electric transmission line and substation projects, spanning multiple states. Oversee outsourcing related to siting and regulatory approvals, work with a multidisciplinary project team to identify buildable, cost-effective routes minimizing environmental impacts, and prepare regulatory and local zoning applications. Develop and monitor schedules, manage identified risks and cost estimates, and participate in stakeholder meetings and public open houses. Travel 25-30% with on-site work in Roanoke, VA; may require extended hours and field work. Requires Bachelor’s degree in related fields, experience in transmission siting or equivalent, and proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office; strong written, organizational, presentation, oral communication, and time-management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in geography, land use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture engineering, environmental science or related field
- Experience: 1-2 years as Transmission Siting Specialist or equivalent (SG6) or 5-8 years with at least 2 years of direct siting experience (SG7)
- Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
- Excellent written, organizational, presentation, oral communication and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments
