Transmission Line Principal Engineer

Job Summary
Coordinate with stakeholders to develop routes, secure permits, and manage geotechnical and lidar data for transmission line projects from conception through commissioning. Direct engineering consultants to produce Issued for Bid, Procurement, and Construction drawings, design criteria, and proposal contributions. Manage competitive sourcing of survey and construction services while supporting cost estimating with scope assumptions. Represent internal and external interests in meetings to address progress, issues, and risk mitigation. May supervise a small team of engineering professionals and make independent technical decisions on High Voltage Transmission line projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in the development, design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission line projects
- Strong knowledge of transmission design
- Excellent communication skills
- Project management skills
- Bias for action
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide value engineering
- Ability to ensure design quality
- Technical competence such as the ability to understand one line and three-line diagrams
- Technical competence such as the ability to understand general arrangements
- Technical competence such as the ability to understand plan and profiles
- Technical competence such as the ability to understand other common deliverables
- Travel required within North America
Desired Qualifications
- Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action
- PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline
- Proficiency with standard industry tools such as PLSCADD
- Proficiency with standard industry tools such as Microsoft products
- Proficiency with standard industry tools such as Auto-CAD
- Proficiency with standard industry tools such as Primavera
- Proficiency with standard industry tools such as other software
