Job Summary

Model, analyze, and design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD software, performing structural and electrical calculations to support equipment, component, and system design. Conduct feasibility and routing studies, prepare construction packages including structure details and staking tables, and evaluate vendor submissions for specification compliance. Gather field data, perform 3-D modeling, and coordinate design reviews with internal groups to complete projects. Requires BS in Engineering with 1–3 years of experience and proficiency in AutoCAD and PLS/FAD tools. Salary range $80,000–$100,000; hybrid or fully remote options available across multiple locations.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering
  • 1 to 3 years of applicable experience
  • Familiar with AutoCAD
  • Proficient knowledge of Design Software (PLS, FAD tools)
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards related to transmission line design
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Must be available for hybrid position (Charlotte, NC, Roanoke, VA, Marlton, NJ, Pittsburgh, PA, St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL or Phoenix, AZ area) or fully remote for other areas
  • GFT does require the successful completion of a criminal background check for all advertised positions

Desired Qualifications

  • Civil Engineer or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Other engineering fields (Electrical, Industrial, etc) considered
  • Experience in electrical utility or utility consulting is strongly preferred
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam preferred
