Job Summary
Develop transmission line plans, profile drawings, hardware details, and grounding details while creating master sketches to scale. Confer with engineering staff to interpret specifications, weight calculations, and stress factors for accurate designs. Assist project teams on walkdowns at client facilities to gather design information and explain drawings to vendors and contractors for necessary adjustments. Requires 6+ years of transmission line design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, and ability to visualize 3D components without computer aid. This role supports a multi-disciplinary team in developing transmission and distribution line drawings within a hybrid schedule at the Peachtree Corners, GA office.
Required Qualifications
- An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD
- 6 or more years experience in design/drafting of Transmission Lines
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer
- Ability to multi-task from project to project
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Attention to detail
- In-office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using Microstation, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS software
