Job Summary
Senior Transmission Implementation Engineer needed to lead implementation of Arelion's Optical Transport Network, overseeing installation, commissioning, DWDM migrations, and end-of-life platform migrations. Requires hands-on experience with DWDM systems (Infinera, Nokia, Ciena), transponder platforms, fibre infrastructure, and cross-functional vendor coordination. Responsibilities include network implementation, equipment installation and service turn-up, logistics coordination, and maintaining high-quality documentation. Strong communication, problem-solving, and global collaboration skills are essential; remote support and international deployment experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in telecommunications covering Plan, Build, and Operate functions
- DWDM network engineering experience in telecom environments
- Experience with Infinera 7300, Infinera FlexILS, Nokia GX, Ciena 6500, and Ciena 6500 RLS
- Experience with transponder platforms such as Ciena WL5e/WL6e and Nokia CHM6/CHM7
- Remote support for installation and troubleshooting of transponders
- Fibre infrastructure understanding including ODF connectivity in data centers
- Capability to commission and turn up DWDM services
- Spectrum migration experience
- Strong documentation skills
- Clear communication of project status to stakeholders
- Up-to-date knowledge of transmission technologies and best practices
- Problem solving, ownership, teamwork, and customer focus
- Global collaboration skills
- Nice to have: university degree, vendor certifications from Nokia/Infinera/Ciena
- Post-secondary education desirable but not mandatory
