Transmission Engineer

Job Summary
The Transmission Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, analysis, and support of high-voltage electric transmission systems. Key responsibilities include designing and analyzing overhead and underground transmission lines, performing line routing and loading calculations, and developing detailed engineering drawings and technical reports. The role requires conducting electrical, structural, and thermal analyses, supporting permitting and environmental considerations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, EIT certification or the ability to obtain one, and relevant experience in transmission line engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain
- 2–7+ years of transmission line engineering experience (level dependent)
- Working knowledge of transmission design standards and codes
- Proficiency with industry software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, AutoCAD, GIS tools)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience working directly with utility clients
- Familiarity with ERCOT or regional utility standards
- Experience with renewable interconnections or system upgrades
- Ability to travel
