Job Summary
Accurately translate spoken work situations, including lectures, conversations, and meetings, while utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English where applicable. Read original documents and translate them into required languages such as German, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Nepali, Oromo, Romanian, Somali, Thai, or Ukrainian. Edit translated versions and maintain cultural sensitivity throughout the process. This role involves working as a 1099 Independent Contractor at Cayuse Language Connect, LLC, with a pay range of $60.00-$85.00/hr. You must be available for on-call assignments and may work flexible schedules, including holidays and outside normal business hours. Background checks are required, and additional checks may occur during employment.
Required Qualifications
- High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience
- Medical Interpreting Training School
- Foreign Service Institute
- Legal Translation online certifications
- Certified Translation Professional (CPT)
- AOC
- ATA Certified
- NAJIT
- Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters
- Must be fluent in one or more of the following languages: German, Haitin Creole, Japanese, Khmer, Kinyarwanda, Nepali, Oromo, Romanian, Somali, Thai, or Ukrainian
- Must be able to pass a background check
- The ability to facilitate communication with discretion and impartiality
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics
- Strong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness
- The ability to track and remember information and concepts while simultaneously interpreting them
- Physical stamina and dexterity for extended interpretation sessions
- Must possess problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc
- Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time
- Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature
- Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to be on-call
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position
- Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen
- May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays
- May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes
- May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours
