Job Summary
Translate documents, correspondence, and materials from English to French (90%) or French to English (10%), with emphasis on life insurance and mutual fund investment products including legal documents, marketing materials, and client correspondence. Ensure language accuracy and consistency in terminology across internal communications, management reports, and software projects. Revise externally translated documents and manage multiple assignments in a high-volume environment with short deadlines. Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong computer competency in MS Office and terminological databases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in translation or equivalent of knowledge and skills acquired through related work experience
- Superior verbal and written communication skills in English and French
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision but also amenable to direction and guidance
- Ability to work in a high paced, high volume environment with changing priorities and short deadlines
- Detail oriented
- Strong computer competency
- Must be proficient in MS Office (word, excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong customer service skills
- a demonstrated ability to work with others in a professional manner
Desired Qualifications
- A demonstrated knowledge of technical terminology used in the Life Insurance and Mutual Fund industries
- Member of a registered professional translation organization (in Ontario: ATIO; in Quebec: OTTIAQ)
