Job Summary
Direct instruction, coordinate vocational training experiences, and supervise community-based employment opportunities for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Support participants in achieving individualized goals while collaborating with the Director of Transition Services to develop skills for independent living and meaningful community participation. This role combines educator, employment specialist, mentor, and job coach responsibilities within Aspire's innovative, community-based model. Monday-Friday 8am-4pm schedule in Guilford, CT.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must have satisfactory background checks.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in vocational training, supported employment, transition services, or job coaching preferred.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and positive behavior supports.
- Experience working in transition programs for young adults.
- Knowledge of Connecticut DDS services and employment supports.
- Experience collaborating with schools, employers, and community agencies.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
