Job Summary
Transit Driver role for Durham Region Transit based in Ajax, handling door-to-door service with passengers including those with special needs. Responsibilities include assisting passengers boarding, maneuvering wheelchairs, attaching securement belts, lifting portable assistive devices, securing passengers and mobility aids, and providing fare, schedule, and stop information. Emphasis on safety, customer service, and effective communication with passengers and team members; adherence to company policies and safety standards. Shifts available include morning, afternoon, evenings, nights, weekdays, weekends; full-time or part-time options. Compensation includes hourly rate of $20.00, with benefits for full-time staff and opportunities for growth and training.
Required Qualifications
- Class license of G
- Clean driving record
- Ability to obtain a clean criminal record search and/or vulnerable sector screening
- Ability to work with individuals who have special needs
- Physically capable to lift and maneuver assistive devices
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
