Job Summary

Transfer Center RN located near Dallas area responsible for reviewing hospital admissions from the emergency department after stabilization and for reviewing interfacility transfer requests from non-PIH facilities in accordance with transfer policies, EMTALA, and Health and Safety Codes. Works to determine medical necessity using approved criteria to achieve appropriate authorization and reimbursement, communicates with insurance providers to obtain up-front authorization, and collaborates with payors to coordinate transfer and post-emergency discharge needs. Supervises EPRN-LVN in utilization review and assists in bed placement and repatriation of PHP risk patients between PIH facilities. Serves as liaison between patients, families, providers, payors, and PIH Health leadership to optimize resource utilization and patient outcomes. The role is hybrid (remote and in-office). Key skills include excellent verbal and written communication, knowledge of EMTALA regulations, ability to multi-task, organizational skills, and proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel. Requires active California RN license and at least two years of acute hospital nursing experience; preferred CCM/ACM certification and additional experience in critical care or emergency department settings.
