Job Summary
Transfer Center Communications Specialist handles receiving, coordinating, and following through to conclusion all requests for assistance involving Life Flight Network by using established protocols and procedures, always keeping in mind the importance of exemplary customer service. The role communicates succinctly and professionally with sending/receiving facilities and their transfer centers, LFN medical staff, 911 centers, and other EMS colleagues; based in the Transfer Center at OHSU. The position emphasizes accurate information gathering, timely ETAs, prioritization, calm professional demeanor, and proficient use of communications equipment to support helicopter and ambulance services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years experience in police, fire, or medical emergency dispatch preferred
- Previous air medical dispatch experience strongly preferred
- Medical Terminology knowledge
- Two way radio proficiency
- Skilled in multi-line phone systems
- Emergency Medical Technician a plus
- NAACS certificate required within 1 year from date of hire
