Job Summary
Develop personalized degree plans and provide pre-arrival academic support to transfer students, ensuring efficient progress toward graduation. Teach APEX-050/APEX-051 courses to incoming cohorts and assist students in exploring majors based on their academic background and career goals. Connect advisees to resources such as tutoring, counseling, and financial aid while coordinating the Transfer Student Mentoring program by hiring and supervising student mentors. Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, and academic departments to monitor barriers to success and recommend process modifications. Engage in campus-wide programming including Admitted Students Day and Open House events.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling, higher education, student affairs, or other related field
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in higher education
Desired Qualifications
- Experience Background in counseling or academic advising, preferably with transfer students
- Understanding of transfer credit evaluation procedures and articulation agreements
- Familiarity with Colleague, Slate, and Microsoft Office products
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple, complex projects and to work independently but also part of a team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
