Job Summary
Transcriptionist role located in Myrtle Beach, SC. Responsible for accurately translating Pathologist dictations and voice recordings into comprehensive pathology reports, using shorthand/stenotype or transcription equipment. Duties include translating medical jargon, returning and editing reports for accuracy, ensuring proper terminology, data entry for pathology reports, maintaining confidentiality, complying with HIPAA/PHI, CLIA, and OSHA regulations, and performing related clerical/administrative tasks (mail, scheduling, travel arrangements, reimbursements, file management). Requires at least two years of medical transcription experience, high school diploma or equivalent, strong knowledge of medical terminology, excellent typing (80 WPM), and proficiency with word processing software. Positions operate on two shifts: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Myrtle Beach, SC. PHI security level is HIGH. All duties must preserve patient privacy and comply with regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of medical transcription experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology including anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of word processing software
- Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Skill in using computer programs and applications
- Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extensive periods of time
- Ability to type 80 WPM from tape using transcription equipment
- Ability to use designated reference materials
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, vendors, clients, and external agencies
