Training Supervisor (LGV Driver & Frontline Trainer)

Job Summary
Training Supervisor who will deliver and tailor training to drivers, loaders, operatives and supervisors across Biffa’s recycling and waste management contracts in Manchester, ensuring employees are fully equipped to carry out their roles. Responsibilities include Operational Support to depots (Vehicle Gate Check, Crew Monitoring, Route Risk Assessment), mentoring staff on unsafe/non-compliant behaviours, reporting vehicle issues, delivering training aligned with Group Training Standards and contractual obligations, coaching drivers to improve skills and reduce incidents, and conducting Depot-Based Training on practices such as wheel torquing, manual handling, vehicle defect checks, in-cab PDA usage, tachographs/logbooks, and driver debriefs. Requirements include LGV Category C, Driver CPC, knowledge of transport legislation, prior waste/service industry experience, time-critical environment familiarity, and IT proficiency. The role emphasizes health and safety culture and supports operational objectives within Manchester’s contracts.
Required Qualifications
- LGV Category C (Class 2) Driving Licence
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Working knowledge of transport and other relevant legislation
- Previous waste or service industry experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical-service environment
- IT literate – comfortable using business software and systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
