Training Specialist (Emergency Response)

Job Summary
Design and develop emergency response training programs and materials tailored to client needs; deliver engaging in-person and virtual training sessions; plan and conduct drills and simulations; travel to client sites in Alberta for on-site training; assess training effectiveness and provide reports with recommendations; ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards; collaborate with operations managers and contribute to proposals and client communications; maintain records of training activities and outcomes; stay updated on industry trends, ICS familiarity, and applicable certifications (CEM/CSP preferred); Calgary-based role with extensive travel across Alberta; strong writing and presentation skills and capability to adapt training approaches to diverse client requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced training and experience in Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
- Certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent (asset)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency response, safety training, or related field
- Proven track record in developing and delivering training programs for diverse audiences
- Travel to client sites as required (Calgary/Alberta)
- Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS) and related regulations
- Ability to design and develop training programs, materials, and assessments
- Experience with training delivery across in-person and virtual environments
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Driver's license with clean driving history (Class 5) and ability to travel throughout Alberta
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., BCER, AER, OSHA, NFPA)
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and content development
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to obtain or maintain required first aid/CPR certifications
- Excellent report writing and client-facing presentation skills
