Job Summary
Collect, analyze, and validate lessons from joint exercises, operations, and strategic activities to transform operational observations into actionable recommendations for USSOUTHCOM readiness. Conduct operational analysis to identify trends, process improvements, and best practices, then plan and facilitate After Action Reviews to drive continuous improvement. Develop guidance, policies, and directives to institutionalize these practices while coordinating with Joint Staff and interagency partners for doctrine development. Prepare executive-level papers and briefings to support senior leader decision-making, serving as a trusted advisor on organizational learning and operational assessments. Requires Top Secret/SCI clearance and experience supporting Joint or Service-level operations.
Required Qualifications
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Experience supporting Joint or Service-level operations, training, exercises, lessons learned, operational planning, or organizational assessments
- Working knowledge of Joint operations, military staff processes, training management, and operational planning
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, develop recommendations, prepare executive-level products, and brief senior leaders
- Strong analytical, writing, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple organizations
- Up to 25% travel
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting a Geographic Combatant Command, Joint Staff, Service headquarters, or Joint Training organization
- Experience facilitating After Action Reviews (AARs), supporting Joint Lessons Learned Programs, or contributing to doctrine or concept development
- Experience supporting wargaming, joint concepts, organizational improvement initiatives, or issue resolution programs
