Job Summary
Conduct patient registration, verify insurance eligibility, and process co-pays while managing check-in and appointment scheduling. Perform preliminary physical tests including vital signs, conduct patient interviews, and draw blood samples for laboratory analysis. Execute point-of-care testing for flu, strep, and urinalysis, maintain exam room supplies, and manage medical records and chart scanning. Perform opening and closing duties, handle incoming correspondence, and ensure equipment calibration and preventive maintenance. Coordinate provider referrals and conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up. Requires BLS certification, one of several medical assistant certifications, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
- One of the following certifications at the time of hire: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA
- OR 1+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant in a Hospital or Urgent Care Setting
- OR 1+ years of working phlebotomist experience
- OR Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN
- OR EMT certification verified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
- OR CNA certification
- CPOE certification for order entry within two weeks of start date
