Training and Development Advisor

Job Summary

Develop and maintain high-quality learning solutions that support employee development, competency, and operational effectiveness. Design, develop, and update training materials, facilitator guides, learner manuals, presentations, and assessment tools for classroom, field-based, online, and blended programs. Create curriculum that reflects operational procedures, equipment requirements, legislation, and industry best practices while analyzing training data to recommend improvements. Research and source internal and external training solutions, working with operational leaders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs. Manage the Learning Management System, upload content, and generate reports on training metrics. Support implementation of new equipment and technologies, assist with onboarding, and ensure all competency documentation remains current and accurate.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience developing training programs within mining, construction, industrial, or heavy equipment environments
  • Experience designing instructor-led and e-learning content
  • Experience developing competency-based training and assessment tools
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Diploma or degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and competency-based training systems
  • Understanding of mining, construction, maintenance, or heavy equipment operations
  • Strong technical writing, editing, and content development skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Experience with training development software and e-learning authoring tools
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

Desired Qualifications

  • Certificate in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, E-Learning Development, or Training and Development is considered an asset
