Job Summary
Design and deliver a comprehensive 5-day training program on marine pollution management, covering international regulations like MARPOL and IMO, ship-source pollution, and legal frameworks. Develop detailed presentations, real-world case studies of oil spills, and practical exercises based on industry plans such as SOPEP and Garbage Management Plans. Facilitate interactive sessions to help participants identify pollution sources, understand non-compliance consequences, and review current prevention technologies. Guide trainees through the analysis of international conventions, legal liabilities, and principles like "Polluter Pays" and "Strict Liability," while providing expert insight into topical issues including the Polar Code and offshore platform decommissioning. Conduct assessments to measure understanding of environmental risk reduction strategies and collaborate with clients to address specific challenges in oil and gas transportation and regulatory compliance. Based in Dubai for the duration of the program with fluency in English required.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a trainer, instructor, or facilitator in marine pollution management, maritime environmental compliance, or a closely related field
- Substantial professional background in the maritime industry, offshore oil and gas sector, environmental law, or with a relevant regulatory body (e.g., flag state administration, port state control)
- In-depth knowledge of key international regulations and codes, including MARPOL, the ISM Code, IMO conventions, and UNCLOS
- Strong understanding of ship-source pollution management, including ballast water, bilge management, and emergency response planning
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse audience of managers, legal professionals, and technical staff
- Ability to create engaging and interactive training sessions using case studies and practical examples from the industry
- Based in or able to travel to Dubai for the duration of the 5-day training program
- Fluency in English is essential
