Job Summary

Provide primary care and conduct behavioral training for the marine mammal collection, including training, enrichment, and husbandry; responsible for preparing diets following nutritional protocols, observing and documenting animal behavior, supporting veterinarians during routine procedures, and maintaining training, feeding, and medical records. Assist in exhibit maintenance, monitor life support systems, contribute to research related to behavior, physiology, nutrition, or water quality, and guide interns and volunteers. Adherence to AZA policies and comprehensive care practices integral to animal wellness and guest experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, psychology, animal science, or a related field
  • Minimum one (1) year paid experience in cetacean husbandry and training (or equivalent education/experience)
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with insurable driving record
  • Open Water SCUBA certification
  • First Aid, CPR/AED, and Emergency Oxygen Provider certifications
  • Successful completion of a swim test
