Trainee Designer (Electrical)

Trainee Designer (Electrical) is responsible for developing plan and profile drawings of overhead lines and underground cables for distribution networks, assisting design engineers with underground cable routing and trench layout plans, performing design calculations for conductor and cable sizing, preparing pricing estimates from utility material data, and producing power single-line diagrams, relay/metering diagrams, and cable schedules. The role emphasizes collaboration with peers and multidisciplinary designers to ensure deliverables meet utility standards and engineering best practices, with a focus on producing accurate BOMs and material documentation while coordinating with line engineers. The candidate should have an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, 1-3 years of transmission and distribution design experience, familiarity with CADD standards, and proficiency in MicroStation, GIS software, SAP, and related tools; knowledge of IEEE/ANSI standards and experience with SPIDAcalc and Cable Pull Planner are pluses.
