Job Summary
Train Crew members inspect equipment, locomotives, and rail cars to ensure safe movement of freight, operate remote control locomotives, perform coupling and hand-brake operations, communicate with yard controllers and dispatchers, and maintain written/electronic documentation. The role includes on-the-job training (14 weeks), potential transition to engine service, and eligibility for assignment changes based on seniority. Work may involve road or yard service, lodging where applicable, on-call hours 24/7, and varied locations within the region. It also requires passing a physical ability test, meeting safety and regulatory standards (FRA), and maintaining a clean driving record. Required Qualifications
- Age 18 or above
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record in the past 36 months (no suspensions/denials related to drug or alcohol incidents)
- Must not have been involved in diversion, probation, or drug/alcohol-related driving incident
- Must not have refused a drug/alcohol test related to motor vehicle operation
