Job Summary
Train Control Expert in Sacramento, CA to define and manage system-wide data requirements across Train Control, Traffic Management, SCADA, Telecommunications, and Key Management subsystems. Responsible for data models, interfaces, ICDs, data flows, governance, validation rules, and ensuring data consistency, integrity, and interoperability. Supports system integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements. Requires strong knowledge of Train Control systems (ETCS, signaling), TMS, SCADA/EMS, telecom (GSM-R, FRMCS), data modelling (UML, SysML, XML, JSON), data exchange protocols (OPC, MQTT, APIs), and cybersecurity concepts (PKI, IEC 62443). Demonstrates ability to translate operational needs into structured data requirements and to lead data governance and quality initiatives within complex rail infrastructure projects.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical, Telecom, or Computer Science
- Typically 10+ years’ experience in rail, infrastructure, or complex systems projects
- TCS or Telecom engineer background
- Master’s degree in Telecom or equivalent
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and INCOSE membership
