Job Summary
The Trails Assistant Crew Lead will supervise and train trail crew members and volunteers in trail construction and maintenance, including carpentry and operation of related equipment. Responsible for planning daily work plans, providing leadership in the absence of the Crew Lead, coordinating safety briefings and trainings, and ensuring work is performed efficiently and safely. Requires experience leading crews, operating tools and equipment (including chainsaws, excavators, mowers, graders, skid steers, grinders), maintaining equipment, and reporting to supervisors. Strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and the ability to work outdoors year-round in varying conditions. Must hold a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, and meet the certification requirements for chainsaw use (S-212 or equivalent), with preferred alignment to advanced first aid and related safety practices.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience in trail maintenance, landscaping, construction or related field
- Must hold and maintain a valid drivers' license
- Must successfully pass a background check
- S-212 or equivalent Chainsaw Certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
- Ability to work in adverse weather and field conditions
