Job Summary
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trailers to ensure safe, DOT-compliant operation. Complete assigned work orders, identify mechanical issues, and execute tire, brake, and structural repairs while coordinating with production and maintenance teams. Report additional maintenance or safety concerns to support overall fleet reliability and equipment availability. This role requires standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts up to 12 hours, including lifting up to 75 lbs and working at heights using ladders and man lifts. Candidates must possess hands-on mechanical aptitude, experience as a tire technician, and knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and automotive systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Above-average mechanical aptitude
- Proven experience as a tire technician in a maintenance or fleet environment
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes, methods, tools, and equipment of the trade
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and automotive systems, including internal combustion engine components
- Ability to use common tools, appliances, and precision measuring equipment such as tape measures
- Strong manual dexterity
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and repairs
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
- Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
- Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors
- Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area
