Trailer Technician (2nd Shift)

Job Summary

Inspect, diagnose, and repair commercial trailers and components including brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and welding fabrications. Perform preventative maintenance inspections, replace parts like wheel seals and bearings, and conduct brake adjustments while adhering to torque specifications. Operate hand tools, power tools, welders, and diagnostic equipment safely to complete repairs accurately and efficiently. Maintain accurate documentation of repair orders, inspection forms, and parts usage while ensuring a clean, organized work area. Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements, communicating repair status and findings to leadership. Collaborate with foremen and service personnel to meet productivity and quality expectations in a fast-paced service environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • vocational training in automotive or diesel technology
  • Knowledge of trailer systems and repair procedures
  • Ability to safely perform brake, suspension, hub, wheel end, and structural repairs
  • Ability to read and follow repair procedures and work instructions
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to identify safety concerns and correct deficiencies
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision based on technician tier level
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced service environment
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and lift throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop environments
  • Ability to safely use shop equipment, tools, and machinery
  • Ability to wear required PPE

Desired Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM certifications)
  • Welding and fabrication experience
