Job Summary
Inspect and repair commercial trailers, performing preventative maintenance, brake adjustments, suspension work, welding, and electrical troubleshooting. Diagnose mechanical, structural, and system issues while replacing components such as tires, bearings, and landing gear. Operate power tools, welders, and diagnostic equipment safely to ensure repairs meet quality standards and torque specifications. Complete repair orders, inspection forms, and documentation accurately while maintaining a clean work area and following OSHA procedures. Communicate repair status and parts needs to leadership and collaborate with the team to meet productivity expectations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of trailer systems and repair procedures
- Ability to safely perform brake, suspension, hub, wheel end, and structural repairs
- Ability to read and follow repair procedures and work instructions
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to identify safety concerns and correct deficiencies
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision based on technician tier level
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, and lift throughout the workday
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop environments
- Ability to safely use shop equipment, tools, and machinery
- Ability to wear required PPE
Desired Qualifications
- Vocational training in automotive or diesel technology
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM certifications)
- Welding and fabrication experience
