Job Summary
Position Summary: Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on tractor and trailer units, including tank inspections and compliance with DOT and FHWA standards. Diagnoses and repairs tractors and trailers, conducts annual/90-day inspections, inspects cargo tanks (internal/external/upper coupler), tests heat, leakage, vacuum, and vapor tightness (EPA Method 27), determines mechanical condition, replaces worn parts, and performs welding as needed. Uses technical publications/diagnostic software, records maintenance in software, and adheres to OSHA and environmental policies. Operates yard equipment and coordinates parts orders; reports to Shop Supervisor. No travel required; location in Parker, AZ with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Experience in cargo tank inspections
- Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT rules (49 CFR HM180.407)
- Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 75 lbs
- Ability to perform inspection and repair work to DOT standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of diesel engine, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
