Job Summary
Trailer Mechanic responsible for diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers, performing inspections (including 90-day HM-183 inspections) to ensure compliance with FHWA/DOT standards, and operating a yard truck to move trailers within the facility. Duties include ordering and receiving parts, maintaining a safe and organized work environment per OSHA and environmental policies, and performing miscellaneous duties. Requires experience with diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, knowledge of DOT rules, ability to use diagnostic software, basic computer skills, and possession of basic tools; must pass background check and drug screening. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school.
- Must possess at least 3 years of experience in the repair and service of trailers and medium-duty trucks.
- Knowledge is mandatory of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
- Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software.
- Basic computer skills
- Must have basic tools to perform work
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
