Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations. Use technical publications or automated systems to follow prescribed maintenance schedules and research parts; properly annotate all maintenance and labor in maintenance management software. Duties include diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers, performing 90-day inspections on trailers, ensuring equipment meets Federal FHWA standards, operating a yard hostler to move trailers, identifying parts and supplies, and adhering to OSHA safety and environmental policies; welding may be performed as needed; maintain a clean, safe work environment and participate in additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required
- At least 1 year related experience required
- Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Must possess at least 1 year related experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures
