Job Summary
The Traffic Signal Technician performs installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices to ensure safe, efficient traffic flow. Responsibilities include testing and diagnosing electronic equipment, maintaining signal timing based on traffic flow data, responding to urgent malfunctions and coordinating contractor support, installing and maintaining controllers, detectors, time clocks, streetlights, and other signal equipment, and maintaining records/reports. Requires reading technical manuals, using electronic testing equipment, working at heights, and staying current on traffic signal technologies; involves physical work outdoors in varied weather and may include evening/weekend hours. Requires two years of relevant experience, an associate’s degree in a related field (or equivalent), IMSA Level II certification (Level III preferred), and a Colorado driver’s license."
Required Qualifications
- Two years of progressively responsible experience in installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including streetlights
- Education equivalent to an associate’s degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related field; a related technical trade school certificate may also qualify
- IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level II certification required; Level III preferred
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
