Traffic Signal Design Engineer - Signing, Pavement Marking & Signalization

Job Summary
Support design and production of signing, pavement marking, traffic signal, and ITS plans for transportation projects in Florida. Assist in preparing PS&E packages, including quantities, cost estimates, and specifications, while performing intermediate engineering calculations for signal timing and traffic indices. Develop layouts for pavement markings, striping, and signal systems, then coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery. Apply FDOT Design Standards, MUTCD, and the Plans Preparation Manual under senior engineer guidance. Conduct QA/QC reviews, participate in field reviews, and coordinate with agencies and clients. Requires BS Civil Engineering with two years of experience; proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Synchro is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- BS Civil Engineering or related field
- 2 years of experience in traffic or transportation engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Relocaiton is an option for this position
- all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain
- Experience working with state agencies such as Caltrans, LADOT, FDOT or similar state DOTs
- Experience or exposure to: Traffic signals
- Signing and pavement marking
- ITS or fiber optic systems
- Familiarity with transportation project delivery (PS&E)
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as: MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Synchro or similar traffic tools (preferred but not required)
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
