Job Summary
The Traffic & Safety Engineer will conduct traffic studies to identify engineering solutions for operational and safety issues, analyze crash data, and suggest countermeasures. Responsibilities include using traffic engineering software for operations analysis, preparing detailed reports, and conducting field reviews. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, hold or be eligible for Professional Engineer licensure in Florida, and possess at least 6 years of experience in transportation engineering. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MicroStation is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the state of Florida or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 6+ years of experience in transportation engineering
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with MicroStation
- Understanding of Highway Capacity and Highway Safety concepts
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork
- Possess attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
Desired Qualifications
- Produce design plans such as signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, and ITS plans
- PTOE or RSP Certification
- Experience working with the Central Florida Regional Planning Model (CFRPM)
