Job Summary
Seeking an experienced part-time Traffic Producer with an understanding of the Metro Tri-State Area. Responsibilities include monitoring traffic information from various sources, entering data into the traffic database, and assisting anchors. Candidates should have the ability to interpret map data, excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications include strong attention to detail, knowledge of local geography, and previous experience in media production or public safety dispatch preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to understand and interpret map data, including flows and directions of travel
- Adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, newsroom-like collaborative environment
- Ability to handle stress, work calmly and effectively under pressure, and react quickly to changes
- Confidence and tenacity to build rapport in order to pursue information, overcome obstacles, and draw information from people
Desired Qualifications
- Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with social networking platforms
- Excellent communication skills, complemented by diplomacy, empathy, and patience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to plan and organize, set priorities, and multitask
- Knowledge of geography and roadways within the local coverage area, including general traffic patterns and mass transit
- Previous experience as a television producer and/or public safety dispatch is helpful
- College degree or certificate preferred, fields of study including communications, television, media production, or broadcast journalism are a plus
