Job Summary
Monitor, evaluate, and support statewide traffic operations across the STMC, RTMCs, and DTMCs to maintain a consistent common operating picture. Analyze current, historical, and forecasted traffic data to identify trends, operational deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Develop recommendations, forecasts, plans, and corrective actions to address congestion, incident response, and statewide operational needs. Coordinate emergency incident response activities with Transportation Incident Management teams, emergency management agencies, state police, and municipal partners. Conduct real-time, historical, and after-action reviews of traffic events, establishing timelines and verifying proper response through QA/QC reviews. Provide operational guidance to STMC, RTMC, and DTMC staff regarding traffic management practices and stakeholder coordination. Prepare and review traffic control contracts, policies, and technical documents for accuracy and compliance. Perform statewide QA/QC inspections of roadway condition reporting systems, ITS devices, and Dynamic Message Sign standards. Support the review, testing, and improvement of traffic operations software and tools. Participate in statewide groups and initiatives related to ITS enhancement and TMC performance improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field such as transportation, public safety, dispatch, emergency management, traffic operations, engineering support, customer service, or a similar operational environment
- 3+ years of experience in traffic operations, transportation systems management, incident management, intelligent transportation systems operations, Traffic Management Center operations, roadway safety, emergency response coordination, or a closely related field
