Job Summary
Erects and maintains traffic signs, related poles and hardware, pavement markings and other traffic control devices; interprets Traffic By-Laws, plans, diagrams or instructions for required sign and pavement markings within the Right of Way; assists Supervisor and technical staff in laying out work and interpreting drawings; liaises with utilities, homeowners, the public, and contractors to resolve issues; operates a vehicle to transport personnel and materials; provides work direction and training to other staff; operates spray painting equipment and handheld/pneumatic tools; performs other related work as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Considerable experience relating to all aspects of traffic control, sign and pavement marking installations
- Experience in safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment related to duties
- Possession of and ability to maintain valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver's License and be qualified to obtain city equipment permits
- Knowledge of sign regulations and specifications (MUTCD, Ontario Traffic Manuals, Highway Traffic Act)
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations
- Ability to work in all weather conditions; physically capable of performing all responsibilities
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and at various locations
- Ability to prepare and complete forms, schedules, checklists, and daily activity reports
- Ability to interact courteously and provide good customer service with community groups, the public, and staff
