Job Summary
Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects, including reviewing traffic impact studies, signal designs, and corridor evaluations. Lead or support proposal preparation, client presentations, and business development activities while mentoring engineering staff. Develop quality assurance standards and participate in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting reviews. Stay current on FHWA guidance, MUTCD requirements, and industry best practices. This role supports the Transportation, Construction, and Design-Build groups across Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas, collaborating with diverse disciplines and serving as a technical resource for state, county, municipal, and private-sector clients.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience
- Strong knowledge of traffic operations, traffic safety, traffic signal systems, and transportation planning principles
- Experience managing and reviewing traffic impact studies, traffic signals improvements and general traffic engineering projects
- Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman's Illinois service areas (own transportation) and attend client and in office meetings as required
- Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
