Job Summary
Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects, including reviewing traffic impact studies, signal designs, and corridor evaluations. Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineering staff while leading project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control reviews. Lead or support proposal preparation, client presentations, and business development activities to drive strategic growth. Develop and implement quality assurance standards to ensure technical excellence across projects. Stay current on industry standards, FHWA guidance, and MUTCD requirements. This role supports the Transportation, Construction, and Design-Build groups across Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas, offering flexible hybrid or remote arrangements for full-time or part-time candidates.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience
- Strong knowledge of traffic operations, traffic safety, traffic signal systems, and transportation planning principles
- Experience managing and reviewing traffic impact studies, traffic signals improvements and general traffic engineering projects
- Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman's Illinois service areas (own transportation) and attend client and in office meetings as required
- Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
