Job Summary
Traffic Engineer (Signal Operations & Analysis) in Nashville, TN, responsible for supporting and leading traffic signal operations projects. Responsibilities include preparing engineering reports and analyses across traffic operations, safety, and transportation planning; modeling intersections and corridors using Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, and related tools; leading development and entry of signal timing plans into central management systems or controllers; overseeing field implementation and fine-tuning of adaptive signal systems; producing signal warrant analyses and timing optimization recommendations; collaborating with municipalities, DOTs, and multidisciplinary teams; mentoring junior staff; and managing project schedules and budgets. Requires 3+ years in traffic signal field operations, familiarity with signal controllers and CMS, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering with EIT/FE certification; Tennessee PE by reciprocity and PTOE are preferred. Salary range $85,000–$125,000; full-time with remote work option and periodic in-person client meetings.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
- U.S. Driver’s License
- 3+ years hands-on Traffic Signal Field Operations / Implementation experience preferred
