Job Summary
Mid-level Traffic Engineer at Horrocks responsible for analysis, design, and planning of signing, striping, and MOT/traffic control for interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges, and intersections. Prepare studies, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish with minimal oversight; function as a technical specialist on small to mid-scale projects; coordinate traffic discussions with project teams, clients, and stakeholders; collaborate with project managers, engineers, technicians, and support staff; assist in mentoring traffic group staff and coordinating resources. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, PE licensure, 4-8 years of traffic engineering design experience, and proficiency with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD; experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and/or Vissim is preferred; strong communication and teamwork skills; salary and benefits outlined by employer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
- Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
- 4-8 years experience in traffic engineering design with a focus on signing and MOT
- Knowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD
- Hands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and/or Vissim (preferred)
- Experience in roadway design (preferred)
- Experience with DOT plan preparation procedures and standards
- Experience with local, regional, state, and federal design criteria
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with organizational skills
- Ability to interact with clients and multi-disciplinary teams
- Desire to grow professionally within project teams
