Job Summary
Traffic Control West is seeking a Traffic Control Flagger to safely direct the flow of vehicles around construction sites, assist laborers and motorists, and maintain safe work zones. Responsibilities include setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary work zones with signs, cones, paddles, and rumble strips; coordinating with other flaggers via radios to direct traffic into a single lane; using hand signals and signs to guide traffic around roadwork; informing tree crews of any traffic issues; adhering to safety manuals and employee policies; ensuring pedestrians and vehicles do not interfere with laborers; positioning warning/detour signs; and maintaining regular on-site attendance. Required skills include knowledge of state traffic regulations, ability to work in varying weather, physical stamina, and proficiency with two-way radios and tablet PC input. The role may involve travel with housing provided when traveling, and overtime as needed. Required Qualifications
- Pass a drug screen prior to employment
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for a minimum of three (3) years
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Be willing to travel. Housing provided when traveling
- Be willing to work overtime. Extended shifts are common with weekends as needed
- Provide your own steel-toe or composite work shoes to be worn during your work shift
- Be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
- Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required
- Manual dexterity to operate two-way radios and enter information into tablet PC
- Regular, reliable, on-site attendance
- Experience: Flagging: 1 year, preferred
- Certification through the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) preferred
