Job Summary
Direct and control vehicular and pedestrian traffic through construction and maintenance work zones while ensuring the safety of the traveling public, coworkers, and equipment operators. Install, maintain, and remove traffic control devices in accordance with approved traffic control plans, standards, and company safety policies. Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service while working in varying weather conditions throughout Alaska. Requires current ATSSA Flagger Certification or ability to obtain it before assignment, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation. Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Current ATSSA Flagger Certification or ability to obtain certification before assignment
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in changing traffic conditions
- Ability to work safely around moving traffic, heavy equipment, and construction operations
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience in roadway construction, utility construction, or traffic control operations
- Knowledge of travel control requirements and temporary traffic control procedures
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification
- MSHA Certification
- CPR/First Aid Certification
