Job Summary
Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones, accidents, and temporary disruptions using handheld signs, paddles, or flags. Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control zones including signs, barricades, and cones per project requirements. Communicate clearly with drivers to ensure safe flow and warn workers of approaching vehicles. Monitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate hazards, coordinate with supervisors via radios or hand signals, and adhere to all safety protocols and PPE standards. Assist with loading and unloading equipment as needed. Perform other assigned duties in outdoor environments involving exposure to traffic, loud noises, and construction equipment. Travel to various sites across North and South Carolina.
Required Qualifications
- Be 20 years of age or older
- Must be able to pass a drug screen
- Must have a valid driver's license AND also reliable transportation
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Willing to learn and follow safety procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Traffic control/ Flagger Certification (Provided by the company)
- No prior experience required; traffic control experience preferred
- Being a Team Player
- Understand and apply safe traffic control practices, sometimes in stressful situations
- Ability to receive and communicate instructions clearly, firmly and courteously
- Strong attention to detail and focus
- Keep a reliable and professional demeanor at all times
- Able to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) while maintaining focus
